A LOCAL'S GUIDE TO GALVESTON PART ONE

Our friend Mark Smalley, who lives on Galveston Island has been wanting to show us some of his local spots that he rides. So recently we took him up on his offer, loaded up the bikes and brought some of the stores new summer arrivals from Portuguese Flannel, Universal Works, Patagonia, Katin and made a day of it.

Galveston has a charming way of making those retreating to the island slow down and enjoy life. I think they refer to this as island time. We spent the day riding motorcycles, hanging, and checking out Mark's latest Small Craft surfboard projects. Mark's 1930's house on the island offered the perfect backdrop to photograph some new summer offerings. Thanks for the southern hospitality. Photos: Joseph Espinoza

As we headed out on the bikes we passed historic mansions on the main avenue, and traversed the Cruise ship port boarding traffic inching further and further away from the Galveston we know and expect.
